merry christmas to me.

i just ordered:

- 24" iMac 2.8ghz
- 4GB memory from crucial
- logitech g9 mouse

and im currently trying to decide on a good set of speakers. i think a nice 2.1 setup would do the job. anyone got any recommendations?

my first ACL experience was an amazing one. there was a bit of a mixup with me being issued a media pass instead of a photo pass on friday so sadly there were a few acts i had to photograph from the crowd but by saturday it was taken care of. smooth sailing.

it was hot. very hot. i consumed lots of fluids. and delicious food. i tried a jalepeno martini. imagine vodka and salsa in a glass. not so delicious. met a lot of cool people from all over the place. made some valuable connections. photographed a lot of incredible music. got my first sunburn. (seriously. ive never had a sunburn in my life.) i definitely want to do this ALL THE TIME.

weird story.

im sitting in the photo pit on sunday afternoon at ACL with all the other photographers and were all waiting for common to go on. this lady from the staff walks straight up to me and asks who im shooting for. i tell her and she immediately turns around with radio in hand talking to whoevers on the other end. everyone looks at me kind of like "what did you do?" and i just shrug because ive got no idea why shes asking me and no one else. i figure after the mixup i had with getting the photo pass to begin with it would be just my luck that they decide to take it away or something. a few minutes go by and another member of the staff walks past everyone else to approach me and asks for my name. i tell him and he yells it into his radio and theres some chatter on the other end as hes walking away. by this time im getting stares from everyone and im convinced that something had gone horribly wrong. so i get up from my seat and i decide to find out whats going on. i talk to the guy that asked for my name to find out whats going on and he says theyre trying to see if im approved for more than 3 songs.

more than 3 songs? what?

everyone gets 3 songs. its been like that at every festival ive been to for every artist. why is this one different? 3 songs go by and all the photographers exit the pit. im standing to the right of the stage looking through my photos when i get waved at by the first staff member. she tells me the follow her and she takes me back into the photo pit.

i was the ONLY ONE. for the next 2 or 3 songs i had the entire photo pit to myself.

bananas.

ive got a lot of editing to do. around 2000 pictures or so to look through.

dear austin city limits committee,

i fully support your decision to replace the white stripes with muse for the headlining spot on saturday night. my prayers go out to meg white who is suffering from "acute anxiety". i know in most cases it tends to be fatal and is a perfectly legitimate reason for canceling a performance at huge festival. if it had been something minor like a gunshot wound or a severed limb...i know she would have pushed on but given the severity of her condition i completely understand. im sure everyone else attending the ACL this year shares my feelings.

,love

isaac.

EDIT: i was wrong. muse put on an amazing show. im sorry for doubting you. i wish meg white the best of luck in rehab....i mean with her anxiety.
